Program Coordinator

This position will assist with all elements of the Summer High School Academic Program for Engineers (SHAPE), Engineering the Next Generation (ENG) and the Research Experience for Teachers (RET). Situated within the Dean’s Office, outreach programs especially serve students underrepresented in STEM fields and encompass: K-12 STEM education; undergraduate, graduate, postdoc and faculty engagement; general public events; and research grant activities. The coordinator is responsible for assisting with the educational, logistical, administrative, and communications activities for summer outreach programs.

This temporary position will assist with the review and assessment of applications to the Summer High School Academic Program for Engineers (SHAPE). With the program becoming more established and larger each year, the applicant pool continues to grow steadily. The outreach team divides the applications evenly across members; each application is read by two team members and assessed according to a rubric weighing various components. This role is responsible for reading and evaluating the applications holistically.

We anticipate this position being approximately 20 hours per week from February through May, then a full-time commitment from June through August. Pay rate is dependent on experience but between $20 - $25 an hour.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience working with several dynamic K-12 STEM programs, admissions, curriculum development, manage undergraduate and high school students, and work directly with teachers and faculty. To apply, please send [email protected] a cover letter and resume.
